Written by an analysand, EVENING SESSIONS WITH DR PRIESTLY is a vivid portrait not only of the transforming experience psychoanalysis can be but also of the connection between personal and universal myths.

Bringing the reader into the dreams and sessions of a patient who begins as dreamless and spiritually lacking, the work reveals how in the course of treatment, the patient is able to to dream a sequence of sometimes breathtaking archetypal dreams.

The imagery of her dreams and visions---with its unusual twist on Exodus and Passover, the binding of Isaac, the story of Jacob and the Angel, Rachel and the stolen idols, and the crucifixion/resurrection of Jesus-- offers the patient a transcendent parallel narrative to her own exile from self and her ultimate coming into being.

Responses to EVENING SESSIONS WITH DR PRIESTLY from readers/analysands:

“A rare, intelligent, imaginative work, visually and in content.  An elaboration of an elaborate mind.”

“ Reading these remarkable pages captures the wild swing in the love that is true analysis, which is the deepest spiritual teaching we have in the modern world. This is a beautiful piece of writing, extraordinary in its originality, and rich in its feelingfulness.”

“What a gift! Elegantly conceived and written. I was so immersed and so moved.  The part about the mother was at once beautiful and heart-breaking.  I have read EVENING SESSIONS WITH DR PRIESTLY in awe and gratitude”
